The Poison Called Honey
Synopsis:
COSEF's flagship publication, The Poison Called Honey, is a bold, plainly written, and deeply impactful book that confronts the seductive appeal of social vices head-on. The title captures the central message: many of the behaviours destroying Nigeria's youth appear sweet, glamorous, and rewarding on the surface — but they are, in reality, slow-acting poisons.
The book addresses the full spectrum of social vices afflicting youth — from drug abuse and cultism, to examination malpractice, cybercrime, and moral recklessness. Written in accessible, compelling prose, it does not merely condemn. It explains, warns, challenges, and inspires. Each chapter unpacks a specific social vice, exposing its mechanisms, its consequences, and the path away from it.
Author Profile:
Ayoola Makinde is the Founder and Executive Director of COSEF. Under his leadership, the Foundation has successfully scaled values campaigns across the 20 Local Government Areas of Lagos State, partnering with educators, community heads, and security authorities.
